Meet a Local Host
I was born in Nice in 1965 and, apart from my native French, I speak English and Italian. I have been a Local Host and Guide on the French Riviera for the past 15 years. Monograms’ clients really enjoy my readiness to assist them and my cheerfulness. I have a wealth of knowledge on the history and culture of the French Riviera. As a local, I know the special places to visit, eat, shop, and where to relax, so that a vacation in Nice can be a dream come true.
Promenade des Anglais
Stroll along this magnificent palm- and flower-filled avenue, with grand views over the Mediterranean, and relax in its charm. At sunset, when the pink glow of the sky reflects the white buildings, it becomes magical.
Old Nice
Visit the old part of Nice with its Italian-style palaces dating from the 1750s. Ask your Local Host for a walking route.
Fine Arts, Modern Art, Matisse Museums
See the Matisse Museum, collections dedicated to Picasso and Chagall, the Archeological Museum, or Asian Art. Your Local Host will be pleased to give you information about Nice’s many museums according to your interests.
Mont Baron
Climb to the top of the hill for fabulous vistas of the Port of Nice, the sweep of the Promenade des Anglais, and the sea.
Mediterranean
Take a dip, rent a boat, or simply relax on one of the public or private beaches. Other sports opportunities include golf, horse riding, tennis, and cycling.
Markets
Enjoy the color and presentation of the famous flower market or the vegetable and fruit markets. Stroll along the Cours Saleya pedestrian district—attractively laid out, teeming with colorful stalls, and lined with pleasant cafés and restaurants. No matter what time of day it is, there's always something happening here.
French Fashion
See the Louis Vuitton and Hermes stores, and admire the styles of exclusive French clothiers.
Shopping
Good buys to take home from your vacation include bags, scarves, perfumes, flower oils and soaps, colorful linens, and local pottery, including the unique figurines Santons de Provence.
Wines, Cheeses, Patisserie, Pastis
When you’re ready for something sweet, there’s plenty of mouth-watering patisserie to tempt you. Or try crépes, with a wide variety of fillings both sweet and savory. France has over 400 varieties of cheese and remarkable wines to sample. Then there’s the Salade Nicoise. Your Local Host will be pleased to assist you with information on true French cuisine. Sip a pastis with the locals; it’s flavored with aniseed and is a specialty of the South of France.
